Volkswagen Tiguan SE R-Line Black RiNo Concept Debuts for Enthusiasts
The Volkswagen Tiguan SE R-Line Black RiNo Concept is a modded, sporty Tiguan that is the latest addition to the VW Enthusiast Fleet family. The concept is designed by Volkswagen enthusiast Jamie Orr and is named for the Riverside North arts district in downtown Denver, Colorodo.
Vision
Orr had a clear vision for the Tiguan SE R-Line Black RiNo Concept right from the start. “I knew what the Tiguan represented for me and what I wanted to do stylistically with it.” As a result, he set out to create a one-of-a-kind model that demonstrates the versatility and the agility of the Tiguan. “What I love about the Tiguan is that it performs just as well on sinuous backroads as it does on city streets. This car can withstand the elements — but many Tiguan owners simply want a sports utility vehicle that is fun to drive in their daily lives.”
Exterior
The Volkswagen Tiguan SE R-Line Black RiNo Concept features Tiguan Aluminum Side Steps from the VW accessory offerings. They make entering the vehicle easier but also provide a visual impact. The side steps were painted black to match the rest of the vehicle. In addition, Orr created a custom exhaust using Borla stainless steel components. The exhaust has gloss black quad tips that match the R-Line rear bumper, and rear trunk lid spoiler. The Tiguan SE R-Line Black comes with an extended spoiler from the factory but Orr added an aftermarket rear spoiler bringing to total to three spoilers on the rear. Lastly, the front bumper has an aftermarket lip that adds to the styling.
Wheels/ Suspension
Several modifications were made to the Volkswagen Tiguan SE R-Line Black RiNo Concept but its strong character lines were still preserved. For example, the tire width is increased by 50 mm to 285 mm using Continental SportContact 5P tires. In addition, the 285/35ZR20 tires are wrapped around a set of Rotiform OZR 20×10.5″ wheels. The wheels have a matted anthracite finish with hexagonal center caps. Furthermore, the ride height is lower thanks to a new height adjustable coilover suspension kit from Solo-Works. Lastly, larger front brake rotors and 6-piston Big Brake Kit calipers are provided by Forge Motorsport USA.
Interior
Orr, who is an avid cyclist, added some cycling touches to the interior of the Tiguan SE R-Line Black RiNo Concept. For example, he modified the Dock & Hook Combination Base which is a clip that allows passengers to hang their jackets and other things. He repurposed it to hold his bicycle helmet. In addition, he installed a large LED lightbar that’s capable of illuminating the trunk and outside area. There is also a built-in air compressor as well and car tire valve connectors. This allows people to easily work on their bikes in the back of the Tiguan. Lastly, the interior features a CNC-made shift knob designed and produced by Black Forest Industries in North Carolina.
Matching Bike
Orr worked with California-based Marin Bikes to create a matching bike for the Tiguan SE R-Line Black RiNo Concept. As a result, they created the Alpine Trail 2 that is composed of gloss black carbon fiber. “The mountain bike is designed to function in difficult terrain, but it works well in any environment — just like the Tiguan. The idea is that this vehicle is capable of going on adventures with you.”
Debut
The Volkswagen Tiguan SE R-Line Black RiNo Concept was official revealed at the EuroTripper enthusiast event in Ft. Meyers, Florida, back in February. “The Enthusiast Fleet is wonderful for the Volkswagen community,” said Orr, who owns about 20 rare or unusual Volkswagens. “These cars are created to support fan events around the country. It’s Volkswagen’s way to celebrate everyone who is passionate about the brand, and to showcase the exciting new products available.”
