Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe is a 1 of 1 Restoration
The new Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe debuts as a one-of-one restoration project based on a 1998 911 Carrera. It was built by Porsche Classic in collaboration with the Porsche Club of America. It bears a resemblance to the 997 Porsche 911 Sport Classic but features much more. The price of completing the restoration is not known.
“In 2009, the 911 Sport Classic, a limited series of 250, had already generated worldwide interest. However, this special model was not sold in the U.S. With this one-off, we’ve now managed to bring a similarly exciting vehicle concept to the U.S. as well.”
Specs
The Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe is based off eh 1998 911 Carrera. However, the chassis, brakes, and engine are actually from the 996.2 911 GT3. The engine is a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six producing specs of 381 horsepower.
In addition, the donor car was found by PCA PCA Executive Director Vu Nguyen. It was located in Colombia, Virginia in state of neglect. The car was then taken to the Porsche Classic workshop near the main plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. There, It when through a complete restoration. This includes total disassembly and strengthening of the body using original and new parts.
Exterior
Color
The Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe comes in a Sport Grey Metallic paint. This also includes Sport Grey Metallic stripes with Club Blue outlines running the length of the hood, roof, and spoiler. This is a reference to the 997 911 Sport Classic
In addition, light Sport Grey accents run along the sides of the vehicle which also features a “Classic Club Coupe’ lettering in Club Blue.
Design
A double-dome roof in the Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe is a feature of the car with a motorsport connection. For instance, tall racing drivers use to bulge the roofs to make room for their helmets. Today, the double-dome roof is a classic design feature of many limited edition Porsche models.
There is also a rear “ducktail” spoiler that pays homage to the 911 RS 2.7 from 1972. It has the third brake like built into it as well. Lastly, both the roof and rear spoiler are hand built for this project.
Interior
Custom door sill plates feature the 911 Classic Club Coupe model name. The interior is upholstered in black leather with Slate Grey accents. It also has a perforated Alcantara headliner as well.
In addition, the seat centers and door panels feature woven black and grey leather in a twill Pepita pattern. Club blue stitching accents the interior and is found on the steering wheel and headrests. Lastly, the model has the latest Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus system. This includes Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto.
