Mercedes-Benz Concept EQT Previews Upcoming Electric Minivan
The Mercedes-Benz Concept EQT debuts as a preview of a new fully electric minivan arriving soon that has a design for families and private customers. Mercedes will introduce the all new T-Class minivan segment later this year and it will first arrive with gas and diesel powertrains. The fully electric EQT will arrive by 2022.
Design
The Concept EQT is immediately recognizable as a member of the electric Mercedes-EQ family. For example, it has the black panel front end with LED front headlights. The LED front headlights flow seamlessly from the hood and feature a star pattern. In addition, the stars are different sizes that create a 3D effect from the front. The van has muscular shoulders and striking wheel arches as well. That allows the model to sit on 21-inch light-alloy wheels. Passengers inside can also enjoy the large panoramic roof. Lastly, the concept comes with an electric longboard in the rear.
Interior
The interior of the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQT has an elegant contrast of black and white with the capability to seat seven passengers. For instance, the seat upholstery is in white nappa leather and also recycled leather as well. The instrument panel has an eye-catching design. For example, the upper section has a wing like profile and dynamically fuses with the instrument cluster. There is also a practical semi-closed stowing compartment located above the instrument cluster. This allows for easy access to important utensils or documents. Lastly, there are high-gloss black round air vents and a multifunction steering wheel with Touch Control buttons.
MBUX
With the MBUX infotainment system Mercedes-Benz is bringing the innovative operation and display concept to the Concept EQT. The system can be conveniently operated using the central display touch screen. It can also be operated using the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant. In addition, the MBUX can anticipate what a driver would like to do next with the help of predictive functions. For instance, if someone regularly calls a certain person on Fridays on the way home, the system will suggest their telephone number on the display on this day of the week.
Versatility
The Mercedes-Benz Concept EQT has sliding doors on both sides with a particularly large opening. As a result, full-sized individual seats in the third row can be reached without difficulty. In addition, three child seats can fit next to each other in the second row. There is also a panoramic roof with a starscape layered onto it that floods the interior with light. Moving to the rear, there is a vertical tailgate and window that provides for a spacious loading compartment. Furthermore, the third row can be folded down to create more space. “The Concept EQT gives an outlook on how space and maximum variability can also be combined with stylish comfort in the small van segment. Our future T-Class is a true multi-talent and with it we will attract new customer groups and grow sustainably,” says Marcus Breitschwerdt, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans.
Release Date
The new Mercedes-Benz T-Class with launch onto the market in 2022. Gas and Diesel versions will debut later this year with the fully electric EQT to follow.
