Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept Debuts, 20 New EV Models Promised By 2025
The Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept debuts as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) that symbolizes the next generation of Lexus. The concept is a preview of their electric future as well as where their new design language is headed. In addition, Lexus has announced they will add 20 new EV models to their lineup by 2025.
Human-Machine Connection
The Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept uses electrification technology to evolve the Lexus Driving Signature to an even higher level by significantly evolving the basic performance of the vehicle. For example, the orientation of the battery assembly is longitudinal under the floor of the vehicle. This allows for more chassis rigidity as well as lowering the center of gravity. In addition, there is a new four-wheel drive force technology called DIRECT4. This allows the drive force of the high-torque motors to be controlled freely. As a result, it enables the vehicles posture fo be finely controlled through human input. Lastly, the use of steer-by-wire eliminates the need for a mechanical connection through the steering shaft. That results in a more direct steering response.
Styling
The Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept is a study model that points to the direction of the evolution of Lexus styling. It aims for a simple and captivating shape that has strong proportions and a distinctive appearance. In addition, with the use of DIRECT4, designers chose styling that evoke the image of dynamic driving. The doors also fluently transition from the front wheels to the rear. Furthermore, the rear has a clean and simple horizontal design. It combines with the side molding to emphasize the wheels and project a powerful stance.
Interior
The interior of the Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept is based on a new design concept called “Tazuna” which is Japanese for “rein”. It takes inspiration from the relationship between horse and rider who communicate through a single rein. As a result, it has multiple steering wheel-mounted switches and a head-up display. In combination, they can control many various functions such as the navigation system, audio system, driving mode selection, and more. Lastly, the entire interior is a clean, high quality space and has a large panoramic roof. The roof uses electrochromic glass that can dim or illuminate depending on the situation.
Advanced Features
In the Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept Artificial Intelligence learns the driver’s preferences and behavioral characteristics. For example, it has a voice recognition system that uses the latest AI to recognize, learn, and adapt to a driver’s habits and preferences. In addition, the use of a digital key allows family and friends to access the car without having to hand over a conventional key. The vehicle can also be operated using a smart phone to open and close the door locks. Furthermore it has retractable door handles that appear above the surface when the drive or passenger approaches with the key in hand.
