BMW XM Concept Specs: 750 Horsepower, Release Date 2023
The BMW XM Concept debuts packing specs of 750 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque with an expected release date of early 2023. The XM will be the most powerful M car ever and the first standalone M model since the M1. The XM Concept is a preview of what the production XM will look like. It will go into production late next year with an expected release date of early 2023. Expect its price to start above $150K.
Performance
The BMW XM Concept will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It will be a V8 engine combine with a high-performance electric motor producing specs of 750 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque. This makes it the most powerful M car ever produced. In addition, it will be able to drive up to 50 miles on electric only power. That is all BMW is letting us know for now. More details will be revealed closer to its release date.
Front
The BMW Concept XM debuts the new and progressive front-end design. The headlights have been split into two separate modules, a new design feature which creates a visually arresting appearance. The extra large horizontal kidney grille also sits between the headlights and tapers towards the outer edges. In addition, lights outline the shape of the grille that make it instantly recognizable at night. Lastly, the new XM logo in the kidney grille and the large air intakes hint at the power of the hybrid V8 engine.
Rear
The BMW XM Concept has prominently flared wheel arches that draw attention to the car’s powerful stance on the road. Extremely slim and boldly L-shaped rear lights extending across almost the entire width of the rear add to this effect as well. The lights themselves have a dark appearance when not active.
Furthermore, dominating the rear bumper are the characteristic twin tailpipes of BMW M models. However, they have a vertical alignment instead of the regular standard alignment. The dual-branch, twin-tailpipe exhaust system employed here reduces backpressure for the V8 engine and also generates the emotionally rich M-typical soundtrack.
Interior
In the interior of the BMW Concept XM, the driver will find a distinctive M interpretation of driver-focused cockpit design. The lines and surface design of the instrument panel, center console, door trim, and seats features high-quality materials. For instance, brown, vintage-look leather, copper and carbon fiber create a bridge between luxury and motor sport interior. Red accents on the steering wheel and center console are M-specific as well. In addition, a highlight of the interior is the headlights with a three-dimensional prism structure that lights up.
BMW Curved Display
Furthermore, the interior features the new BMW Curved Display. Based on the latest generation of BMW iDrive, the M-specific version of the control/operation system translates the high-performance character of the BMW Concept XM into the digital world. Showcased in the familiar three M colours, the user interface lends itself perfectly to a sporty driving experience.
Price and Release Date
As we mentioned above, the XM will go into production late next year with an expected release date of early 2023. Its price has not been announced and will be revealed closer to its release date. Expect it to have a price of above $150K.
