BMW M3 Touring Wagon Confirmed – All the Details
The BMW M3 Touring wagon has been confirmed by BMW M CEO Markus Flasch on his Instagram page. He posted a teaser image previewing the first ever M3 Touring model. Let’s go over what we know so far and scroll down to the Image Gallery to see more.
Teaser Image
The teaser image of the BMW M3 Touring doesn’t reveal too many details. However, we do see the rear end of the wagon featuring a large rear diffuser and M twin tailpipes. In addition, the rear fenders are noticeably a lot wider and larger.
Performance
We do know that the 2021 M3 / M4 and M3 Touring will be powered by the same engine in the current X3 M and X4 M. It’s a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six producing up to 510 horsepower. It could also have the same transmission which is an eight-speed automatic. In addition, for the first time ever the M3 and M4 will come with the M xDrive all-wheel drive system as an option.
Pure Model
A rumored “Pure” model will be available for enthusiasts. The model will have slightly less horsepower but comes with a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive set up.
Leaked Image
Although we’re just getting a teaser of the rear end of the BMW M3 Touring we already have an idea of what the front looks like thanks to a M4 leaked image. For instance, the image shows the new large vertical grilles and the hood having two indentations that line up with the grilles. The front bumper is also more aggressive with large air inlets.
Release Date and Pricing
The 2021 BMW M3 and M4 are scheduled to debut in September but could debut sooner. However, the M3 Touring will be a 2022 model so we might not officially see it until next year.
