Exterior
The 2022 Honda Civic Prototype is pretty much what the next generation model will look like. The new face of the Civic Prototype features a clean and sophisticated look with a low and wide stature. In addition, it has strong horizontal elements and the upright grille is offset below the headlights. From the side profile you can also see that the hood is elongated and cabin has been pushed further back. In the rear, the wider track of the Civic Prototype features new taillights and an aerodynamically efficient trunk lid.
In creating the Civic Prototype, Honda designers took inspiration from timeless concepts of past Civics. They also spent time focusing on Honda’s essential “Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum” philosophy. It’s idea is that the purpose of technology and design is to serve the needs of the driver and passengers.
Interior
The interior of the 2022 Honda Civic Prototype previews a dramatic makeover. It combines the clean lines of earlier generations with outstanding ergonomics and exceptional visibility. The Prototype interior also incorporates modern elements and technology. For example, the instrument panel is free of visual clutter. It’s minimal design gives the driver a clean and clear view of the road ahead. Stretching across the dash is also a honeycomb mesh accent. It not only serves as a design element but conceals the air vents as well.
The 2022 Honda Civic Prototype will also introduce multiple new model-first technologies that include an all digital meter cluster, and a new 9-inch full HD touchscreen display.
Safety
The 2022 Honda Civic will introduce multiple new active and passive safety systems. This includes an upgraded suite of Honda Sensing® safety and driver assistive systems, and multiple new airbag designs. Furthermore, it will come with an advanced version of Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ body structure. It features improvements in occupant and pedestrian collision protection. The more rigid body structure also will contribute to the Civic’s driving refinement, ride quality, and sporty handling.
Price and Release Date
The Honda Civic Prototype makes no mention of a potential price. Honda is also keeping quiet about its engine and performance specs. The 2022 Honda Civic will arrive late Spring 2021. In addition, it will be followed by the Sedan, Hatchback, Si, and the high-performance Type R.
