The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning debuts as a full electric version of the iconic truck that is the smartest and most innovative F-150 ever built. “F-Series is America’s best-selling truck for 44 years, the backbone of work across the country, and a trusted icon for generations of customers. Now we are revolutionizing it for a new generation.”
Specs
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning targets 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of instantaneous torque. As a result, it has more torque than any other previous F-150. All that extra power allows it to achieve a 0-60 mph time in the mid 4-second range. The standard range model has an EPA-estimated range of 230 miles. However, opting for the extended-range battery gives you 300 miles. The standard model with 18-inch wheels has a 2,000 pound payload. However, the XLT and Lariant models with the extended-range battery and Max Trailer Tow Package have a 10,000 pound towing capacity. Lastly, with standard 4×4 independent suspension, Ford claims it is even quicker than a Raptor.
Charging
Ford is the only automaker offering an 80-amp charge station as standard equipment. As a result, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning can charge an average of 30 miles per hour. That also allows the extended range battery to charge from 15% to 100% in just eight hours. Furthermore, on the road, customers have seamless access to North America’s largest public charging network through FordPass, with more than 63,000 charging plugs and growing across the U.S.
Smart Connected
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is packed with intelligent features that make it smarter and more productive than before. For example, the optional Ford Co-Pilot360 package includes BlueCruise that allows for true hands-free driving on more than 100,000 miles of pre-qualified highways. In addition, there is the Onboard Scales system that calculates how much you’re hauling and how it will effect range. The Pro Trailer Hitch Assist system also automatically controls the throttle and braking to make hitching trailers easier. Owners can now use their phone as a key as well. Furthermore, all of these features will get better over time thanks to over-the-air updates.
Digital Experience
Making its debut in the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat and Platinum Series is the Sync 4A system. It is a sleek, modern interface supported by a 15.5-inch touch screen that can adapt to the driver’s behavior. In addition, SYNC 4A employs natural voice control, cloud-connected navigation and wireless access to your favorite services: Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, integrated Amazon Alexa and SYNC AppLink apps. Furthermore, there is a 12-inch digital instrument cluster with a customizable interface that displays key information.
Power at Home
Debuting on the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is Ford Intelligent Backup Power which turns the truck into the ultimate power source for your home. It has the ability to offload 9.6 kilowatts of power. As a result, it can keep the lights on during an outage, power home appliances, security systems, and more. Buyers will also have to install the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro and home management system. “Whether sheltering during a storm or trying to stay safe in a heat wave, customers can now use their truck to give themselves power when they need it most,” said Ryan O’Gorman, electric vehicle manager, Strategic Partnerships.

For example, it is lockable and easily accessible by a powered open and close system. In addition, it has 400 liters of volume and can carry a 400 pound payload.
