2022 BMW X3 Facelift LCI Price, Specs, Interior, & Release Date (X3 & X3 M)
The 2022 BMW X3 facelift LCI debuts with a new look, improved equipment and a range structure which has been optimized for customers. The refresh is also rounded off with a modern interior with new equipment features and updated infotainment. You can expect the new model to have a release date towards the end of this year.
Exterior
The new 2022 BMW X3 facelift has a more modern appearance that conveys a more powerful presence. For example, the kidney grille and headlights have been redesigned along with the front and rear bumpers. New graphics have been applied to the rear lights as well. High-quality X elements such as underbody protection and specific side skirts in the style of the previous X Line are already standard.
M Sport Package
For an extra price, The M sports package gives the 2022 BMW X3 LCI a sportier orientation. The specific front bumper features significantly larger air inlets and inserts finished in high-gloss black. It has pronounced air curtains as well. In addition, the window graphics, roof rails and BMW kidney frame and bars are optionally available in high-gloss black. The sportier rear bumper also includes a more striking diffuser finished in Dark Shadow along. It has two additional side air‑curtain‑panels in high-gloss black as well.
Furthermore, the standard trim includes the new 19-inch Y‑Spoke 887M alloy wheel in Midnight Grey Bicolor with 245/50 R19 tires. However, additional wheels in 20 inch and 21 inch specs are available as an option. Lastly, M sport brakes can come with blue or red brake calipers.
Eleven Paint Finishes
Following the redesign of the 2022 BMW X3 refresh, BMW now offers a total of eleven paint finishes in the regular range. The metallic paint finish Skyscraper Grey is new, and as is M Brooklyn Grey metallic from the M sports package. There are also the two BMW Individual paint finishes Aventurine Red and Tanzanite Blue. For the first time there is also a choice of numerous special BMW Individual paint finishes for the two models, including matte finishes such as Frozen Deep Grey. However, Individual colors will have an added price.
X3 M40i/ M40d Exterior
Further visual differentiation is offered by the BMW X3 M40i and the BMW X3 M40d. For example, they come with a specific BMW M kidney grille that bears the typical M double grille bars in high-gloss black and with an M logo. The same aprons as in the M sports package are to be found at the front and rear. However, it gets aerodynamically optimized M exterior mirrors in high-gloss black and tailpipe trims in black chrome with a distinctive look.
The BMW X3 M40i and BMW X3 M40d are fitted as standard with 20‑inch M light alloy wheels double-spoke 699M in Orbit Grey. In addition, they come with staggered tires with specs of 245/45 R20 at the front and 275/40 R20 at the rear. As an optional extra, these wheels are available in Jet Black, while other exclusive options include the 21-inch M light alloy wheels double spoke 718M in Jet Black burnished.
Interior
The new 2022 BMW X3 facelift adopts the center console of the current BMW 4 Series interior. The free-standing, central Control Display with touch function now offers a screen diagonal of 10.25 inches as standard in all vehicles. However, a 12.3-inch version of the touch display is also available for an extra price.
The significantly improved interior standard equipment now also includes sports seats with covers from a new Sensatec generation with perforated main seat surfaces. Automatic climate control with 3-zone control is standard as well.
Furthermore, the interior center console accommodates the newly designed control island with the gear selector lever, buttons for the start/stop system, the electric parking brake, hill descent control and various driving experience functions as well as the BMW Controller. Lastly, ambient lighting is available as an option.
Hybrid for All
The new 2022 BMW X3 LCI now features hybrid technology on all available models. In addition to the BMW X3 xDrive30e with plug-in hybrid drive, all 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines in the two model series now use 48-volt mild hybrid technology. A 48‑-volt‑starter generator ensures even better driving performance with lower fuel consumption and increased driving comfort. The energy obtained by means of recuperation and stored in the 48-volt battery can also be used for an electric boost of 8 kW/11 hp.
Performance Specs
In the States the 2022 BMW X3 facelift will come with three different engine options on its release date: xDrive30i, xDrive30e, and X3 M40i.
xDrive30i: 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder producing 245 horsepower.
xDrive30e: 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder with integrated electric motor. The joint system output of 292 horsepower can be increased by up to 41 horsepower by temporary use of the electric motor’s peak output. It also has a lithium-ion high-voltage battery that enables a range of up to 31 miles.
X3 M40i: 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder producing 360 horsepower.
8-speed Steptronic Transmission and xDrive
All engine versions of the 2022 BMW X3 refresh are combined with 8-speed Steptronic gearboxes. They are also specifically matched to the respective engine characteristics. Howvever, the BMW X3 M40i and X3 M40d feature the otherwise optional 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission including paddle shifters and Launch Control at no added price.
BMW xDrive all-wheel drive makes a significant contribution to the sportiness of the BMW X3. Its rear-wheel orientation also makes dynamic cornering in particular an especially intense experience. In addition, BMW xDrive optimises both driving stability and traction over rough terrain.
Driving Assistant Professional
The Driving Assistant Professional is available for the first time as an option in 2022 BMW X3 LCI. It offers the driver comfortable relief and increased safety in driving situations. For instance, it includes Active Cruise Control with improved functionality in the city, junction warning with additional city brake function, emergency lane assistant and improved steering/lane guidance assistant.
Parking Assistant Plus now also includes the reverse assistant, which helps retrace a completed line in reverse. Lastly, another new feature in the BMW X3 and BMW X4 is the optional BMW Drive Recorder, which takes videos around the vehicle.
BMW Live Cockpit Plus
BMW Live Cockpit Plus as standard and BMW Operating System 7 come standard on the 2022 BMX X3 interior. BMW Live Cockpit Plus includes the iDrive operating system with a Control Display which is now at least 10.25 inches in size and a Touch Controller, as well as an instrument cluster in Black Panel look with a 5.1-inch colour display at the centre.
BMW Live Cockpit Plus can also come with the optional interior BMW Head-Up Display. As an optional extra, BMW Live Cockpit Professional offers a fully digital display network: the high-resolution instrument cluster behind the steering wheel and the Control Display each have a screen diagonal specs of 12.3 inches.
Price and Release Date
The 2022 BMW X3 facelift has a release date of later this year. Price starts at $46,695 for the xDrive 30i. However the performance X3 M40i price starts at $58,775.
2022 BMW X3 M
The 2022 BMW X3 M high-performance Sports Activity Vehicle is getting a comprehensive refresh from BMW M GmbH just two years after its initial launch. In addition to new design features it also offers an improvement in pulling power thanks to an increase in torque.
Performance Specs
The most powerful BMW in-line 6-cylinder petrol engine powers the 2022 X3 M refresh. For instance, it has a peak output specs of 510 horsepower and maximum torque which has been increased by 36 lb-ft to 479 lb-ft of torque. As a result, it can now sprint from 0 to 62 mph to 3.8 seconds. In comparison, that is a 0.3-second improvement over the previous model’s specs. The top speed is also electronically cut off at 155 mph. However, this limit is raised to 177 mph with the optional M Driver’s Package. Lastly, power is transmitted to the wheels via an 8‑speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic.
M Sport Exhaust
The 2022 BMW X3 M Competition facelift comes with a M sports exhaust system at no added price. It enriches the engine sound characteristic especially when under intense load and at high engine speeds. The variable flaps of the M sports exhaust system also allow for a highly variable sound output.
M xDrive
The M xDrive all-wheel drive system also contributes to the high agility of the BMW X3 M Competition. It combines the traction benefits of power transmission to all four wheels with the proven dynamic qualities of classic rear-wheel drive. The electronically controlled M xDrive is also networked with the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system. In combination, they direct part of the drive torque to the front axle when the rear wheels reach the limits of their power transmission capabilities. However, at the touch of a button, the driver can influence how the driving stability control works and the distribution of drive torque between the front and rear wheels.
M Compound Brakes & Wheels
The 2022 BMW X3 M Competition refresh features a M compound brake system as standard. In addition, the brake calipers bear the M logo and are finished in blue as standard or in high-gloss black or red on request.
The perfectly matched overall package for maximum performance also includes the 21-inch wheels. They come with specs of 255/40 ZR21 tires in the front and 265/40 ZR21 tires at the rear. Furthermore, one new feature is the M forged wheel 892M Star Spoke in Jet Black burnished. They save 4.4 lbs of weight per wheel. However, the well-known M light alloy wheel 765M V-Spoke is also available in Jet Black burnished.
Exterior
The new 2022 BMW X3 M Competition LCI has the enlarged BMW kidney grille with its now one-piece frame and headlights. In addition to the standard adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function, BMW Laser Lights are available as an option.
The rear also has the full LED rear lights with a black surround and narrower illuminated graphics. The lower section of the rear apron is M specific and finished in high-gloss black. The large diffuser is flanked on the right and left by the quad tailpipes of the M sports exhaust system, which are finished in black chrome as well.
Furthermore, Carbon Black metallic and Brooklyn Grey metallic are new exterior color options. However, Marina Bay Blue metallic and Sao Paulo Yellow are also new colors but they are exclusive to the Competition models. Finally, a wide range of BMW Individual paint specs are available for the first time such as the matte finish Frozen Marina Bay Blue metallic.
Interior
The 2022 BMW X3 M Competition interior features M sports seats with electrically adjustable headrests and illuminated M logo as standard. In addition, extended Merino leather upholstery is available in four color combinations. However, BMW Individual extended Merino leather upholstery in Tartufo is also available as an option. The M leather steering wheel with multifunction features contrast stitching in the BMW M colors as well.
BMW Live Cockpit Professional
The new 2022 BMW X3 M Competition LCI comes equipped with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional including Connected Drive as standard. It also includes BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, Connected Music and Remote Software Upgrades. In addition, the driver has a choice between touch operation on the Control Display, the tried-and-tested BMW Controller, the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel and voice control. A Harman Kardon surround sound system now comes as standard as well.
Furthermore, the BMW Live Cockpit Professional offers a fully digital display network for the interior: the high-resolution instrument cluster behind the steering wheel and the Control Display each have a screen diagonal specs of 12.3 inches. It is a fully digital instrument display that offers the M View with specific displays adopted from the BMW M8 models. M specific display content is also available with the optional BMW Head‑Up Display.
Driving Assistant
Driving Assistant, and the Driving Assistant Professional is available at an extra price for the first time on the 2022 BMW X3 M. It includes Active Cruise Control with improved functionality in the city, intersection warning with additional city braking function, emergency lane assistant and the improved steering/lane guidance assistant.
In addition, the optional Parking Assistant Plus now also includes the reverse assistant, which helps retrace a completed line in reverse. Parking Assistant Plus also uses Park View, Panorama View and 3D Top View to create a 360-degree image of the vehicle and its surroundings from various perspectives.
Price and Release Date
The 2022 BMW X3 M facelift starting price remains unchanged at $70,895. Competition package pricing hasn’t been announced. However, it cost $7,000 extra for the 2021 model year. You can expect the new high performance SUV to have a release date of later this year.
