2021 Volkswagen Arteon R Revealed – Here’s the Details
The 2021 Volkswagen Arteon R has just debuted alongside the entire refreshed Arteon lineup. It is now the new flagship model and it’s available as a sedan, as well as the newly announced Arteon R Shooting Brake. Lets jump into the details.
Performance
The Volkswagen Arteon R is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 316 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Power goes through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission to all four wheels. Furthermore, it has an updated version of Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
R-Performance Torque Vectoring
It features Volkwagen’s R-Performance Torque Vectoring System. It can distribute the torque variably between the front or rear axle and individually between the rear wheels. The system can adapt depending on the driving situation allowing for enhanced driving dynamics.
Exterior
The Volkswagen Arteon R differs visually from the base Arteon. It has R styling cues. For example, the front bumper is more aggressive and has larger air inlets. In addition, it has exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels and its brake calipers come painted in blue. Out back it has chrome exhaust tailpipes.
Interior
The entire 2021 Volkswagen Arteon lineup receives an interior update that includes a new digital dashboard and a new multifunctional steering wheel with touch controls. There are also new digital touch sliders for the air condition controls and new interior ambient lighting that adjusts in up to 30 different colors.
The Arteon R gets exclusive carbon fiber trim and leather sport seats. It also features a “Race” driving mode.
Shooting Brake
The 2021 Arteon R Shooting Brake has arrived alongside the new Arteon R. As its name suggests it’s a wagon version of the Arteon R. The roof and window lines extend towards the rear and end with the new roof spoiler. Volkswagen hasn’t revealed the exact dimensions but its clear to see the Shooting Brake is more spacious and has more cargo room.
Release Date and Pricing
Now it’s time for the bad news. The Volkswagen Arteon R and Arteon R Shooting Brake are not going to be sold in the States. They will hit dealerships this Autumn but only in Europe. Pricing hasn’t been revealed.
