Lexus Driving Signature
Lexus is debuting what they’re calling the “Lexus Driving Signature” with the new 2021 IS. It’s a uniform driving experience that will feature across their entire lineup. The goal is to deliver a new generation of Lexus vehicles that are more balanced, refined in control, and confident than before.
Improvements
The new Lexus IS was thoroughly honed and tested at various places including the new Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama which opened in 2019. Engineers focused on enhancing body rigidity by reinforcing radiator side supports, increasing front-side member weld points, and optimizing structures from the C -Pillars to the sides of the roof. The increased rigidity reduces unwanted noise and vibration along with improving ride comfort and handling.
The engineers also made multiple suspension refinements. For example, the coil springs are 20 percent lighter than the outgoing model. Also, new A-arms are composed of forged aluminum and are 18 percent lighter and there is also a new stabilizer bar that’s 17 percent lighter.
Interior
In the interior the new 2021 IS features a standard 8-inch touchscreen display but opt for the Mark Levinson with navigation package and you get a 10.3-inch touchscreen display. Also, the infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Safety Features
The Lexus Safety System+ suite of features comes standard on the new 2021 Lexus IS. Some key features include the Pre-Collision System with Frontal Collision warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Emergency Steering Assist, and Lane Departure Warning.
